Warren Named Volunteer City Of The Year

The board of the Bradley Chamber of Commerce meet Monday October 20th and reviewed the Chamber's finances and talked about various projects underway.  Several students from East lab were present to hear the reports and offer their suggestions.  Janet Harton, the Facilitator for The East Lab that operates out of the Southeast Arkansas Community Based Education Center, was also on hand.

Chamber President David King updated the board and students concerning ongoing efforts to restore and utilize the railroad depot, the Bryant Furniture building on Main Street, The New Zion AME Church on North Myrtle Street and promotional efforts to benefit tomato farmers.  he also talked about the desire to upgrade and improve the Warren Cultural Center.

Board Chairman Gregg Reep appointed himself, Dorothy Henderson and Danny Herring to the nominating committee to prepare a list of new board members and officers for the coming year.

Holiday plans were detailed for the coming months.  Some of the activities are as follows:
Christmas open houses-November 9th, 1-5 P. M
Veterans Program-November 10th
Warren Christmas Parade-December 4th,6:00P.M.
Hermitage Christmas Parade-December 6th, 6:00 P.M.
Santa Train-December 13th, 9:00 A.M. at rail depot
Tour of Homes-December 14th
New Years Eve Downtown-December 31st, hosted by Warren Forward

Mr. King also indicated that Buck Fever will be held November 9th in Banks.

Board members talked about the various businesses operating in Warren and the upswing in the Warren economy.

David King informed the members that Warren has been selected as a "Volunteer City of the Year" in Arkansas and will receive the award during the Arkansas Municipal League meeting in early 2015.  Warren is the only city in south Arkansas to receive the designation this year.
