City Of Warren And Warren School District Awarded Grants

The City of Warren and Warren School District have been jointly awarded a grant in the amount of $136,750.00 to be used to renovate Axley Field into an updated soccer field.  Axley field located between Seminary and Cherry Streets just south of the high school gym, was the longtime home of the Warren Lumberjack Football Team, prior to the construction of Jim Hurley Jr. stadium. The property belongs to the Warren School District.

Plans are to construct a modern soccer field for use by the high school soccer team and other soccer programs in Warren.  Soccer is a growing sport throughout Arkansas and is now a major sport in most high schools.  Warren High School has a thriving boys and girls program.

Under the terms of the grant the city and school district must match each grant dollar with another dollar or in-kind contibution.  The city and school district will split the matching requirements 50%-50%.  The grant is being provided by the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism and will be administered by the City of Warren.

Funds will be used to upgrade the field, provide concessions, lightning and parking.
