Downtown Home To 600 Pound Tomato

Chamber of Commerce President David King
and the biggest tomato in town

Thanks to the Bradley County Chamber of Commerce and a friend of the county, the Warren Municipal Building is now home to a 600 pound concrete tomato which will be on permanent display on the outside front entrance to the building.  Thanks to Bradley County native and retired Sheriff J.B. Smith, the chamber learned of the availability of the tomato which was manufactured in Texas.  Several of the large tomatoes were made and are being put on display in communities that celebrate tomato festivals.  There are a number of cities around the country that host tomato festivals, including in Texas and Mississippi.

The Bradley County Chamber purchased the large tomato and Sheriff Smith delivered it to Warren at no cost.  Deon Wolfe provided a fork lift to unload the tomato  and set it in place.  It will be painted appropriate colors.  The display will be highly visible year round and especially during the annual tomato festival in downtown Warren.

Bradley County Chamber President David King expressed thanks to Sheriff Smith, Deon Wolfe and City of Warren employees that help set the tomato in place.  Along with the north water tower, the influence of the tomato crop is alive and well in Warren and Bradley County.
Sheriff J.B. Smith looks on as Deon Wolfe works to set the 600 lbs. statue in place.
