Conviction Of Victoria Pendraza Upheld

The Arkansas Court of Appeals has affirmed the conviction of Victoria Pedraza in the case of permitting abuse of a minor.  Pedraza and her husband, Daniel were charged with capital murder and permitting abuse after Pedraza's daughter died as a result of multiple blunt-force injuries.  She was sentenced to twenty years' imprisonment for permitting abuse in 2013.  She appealed arguing that the Judge erred by requiring her to register as a sex offender, engaged in inappropriate conduct during her sentencing trial and for not disqualifying himself from presiding over the sentencing trial.

The case was tried in Drew County Circuit Court and the Honorable Robert Gibson presided. Tthe Court of Appeals ruled that the conviction stands as ordered and found no basis for the issues appealed.
