Hospital Board Meets

by Sara King
The Bradley County Medical Center Board of Directors met on Thursday, June 25. The meeting was called to order at 12:30 p.m. The Department Head presenter for this month was Clayton Winters from the Purchasing Department. Winters told the board that his department has two full-time employees and one part-time employee. He told the board that BCMC is a part of the Health Trust Buying Group. Other hospitals in our area are also part of this group including Chicot Memorial Medical Center in Lake Village, Ouachita County Medical Center in Camden, Medical Center of South Arkansas in El Dorado, Drew Memorial in Monticello, and Delta Memorial Hospital in Dumas. The minutes from the previous meeting were approved. Brandon Gorman gave the Financial Reports to the board. Dr. Joe Warton made medical staff recommendations. Rex Jones gave the executive update. He spoke about the implications of the Supreme Court’s ruling on King v. Burwell. Jones told the board that he is working with some agencies to find a temporary physician to cover OB while Dr. Worley is on medical leave. Jones told the board about the Hospital Operations meeting that he attended with Representative Jeff Wardlaw. Jones also told the board about the new guidelines for the measurement of radiation given to patients during CT examinations. Because BCMC’s current CT is not capable of that level of monitoring, they are evaluating the impact that this will make and if it makes sense financially to purchase the upgrade. Jones gave the board an update on the building project and the new portable X-Ray Unit. Brandon Gorman gave the board information on the Property Insurance Renewal for the hospital. The board then went into executive session to discuss personnel changes. The next meeting will be July 23, 2015.
