News from the Warren Branch Library

We had another great summer reading program today for the 3-5 year old group. A huge thank you to Michelle Carter with the Bradley County Extension Office, for presenting our program today! Mrs.
Michelle showed the kids how to make Uncooked Strawberry Jam. She showed them how mash the strawberries, how to measure and mix the sugar together, and then while she let it stand for 10 minutes, the kids sang along to "Old McDonald had a farm and grew strawberries on the farm", and then she read the book "Give the Moose a Muffin", and Mrs. Michelle received hugs from all the kids!! :) Next, she added the lemon juice and pectin and then they all got to taste the fresh strawberry jam. Afterwards, they all went outside to see the strawberry plants in the library garden. We also did door prizes and 4 lucky people got to take fresh jam home!! Again, thank you Michelle Carter for taking your time to come out and do a program for us! Also a big thank you to Laura Napier for running our registration table and getting all the kids signed in and book logs done, and Hayley Woodard for taking pictures for us!

The children were mesmerized by Mrs. Carter's presentation.

Mrs. Carter received hugs from some who loved the program.
