Earlier last week, the roof of the former Blankinship Grocery Store located on North Myrtle Street caved in. With the recent heavy rains, a wall on the North side of the building also fell. The city had blocked the street and no one was injured. Mayor Bryan Martin says he will ask the City Council tomorrow night for emergency permission to make the structure safe.. He indicated that the owner will be held responsible for the cost of the cleanup.
