Quorum Court Approves 2015 Budget, Honors Retiring Justices

Judge Keith Neely thanks and congratulates Hugh Quimby for his service.
The Bradley County Quorum Court did something they have not done in a few years, they adopted a budget for the coming year instead of a continuing resolution.  The Justices took a proposed budget and with minimum discussion approved ordinance 696 which set the county budget for the calendar year 2015.  The budget was approved by a vote of 7-1 with the only no vote being cast by Justice Bobby Hargraves.  Justice Gwen Bullard was unable to attend.

Justice Hargraves asked several questions prior to the vote and seemed to be concerned the most by the 911 funding, especially the contract labor expense.  The budget calls for a 4% raise for all employees.

At the conclusion of the business Judge Neely presented a plaque to Justice Hugh Allen Quimby for 24 years service on the Court and another to Justice Melvin Mills for 6 years service.  Both men choose not to run for reelection.  Justice Quimby expressed his appreciation to the Court and indicated he had enjoyed his service but thought it was time to step down.  Justice Mills likewise thanked everyone for their thoughtfulness.

During the meeting the Court voted to send a letter of support for the appointment of Roger McClellan as Adjutant General of the Arkansas National Guard.
