Changes Underway For Trees On Main Street

The City of Warren has begun taking down the large trees that are located along Main Street.  As of last week, three trees have been cut.  Two were very large and causing damage to the sidewalk area.  Another one had a dead limb and was not healthy.  Plans call for the stumps to be removed and a different species of tree planted that will not grow so large and can be maintained easier.

According to the Mayor"s Office eventually all the current trees will be removed and new trees planted.  It will likely be done in phases as the city has available funding.

The current trees were planted a number of years ago when the downtown sidewalks and benches and lights were installed to improve the downtown business area. Grants funds were used for most of the initial construction.
